Recipe: Oatmeal Honey Lip Scrub

Recipe: Oatmeal Honey Lip Scrub

Ever thought about making your own lip scrub? This DIY Oatmeal Honey Lip Scrub recipe includes just a few simple ingredients. In fact, you may already have them in your pantry!

No five-step routine. No mystery ingredients. This recipe only calls for oatmeal, honey, and olive oil. Follow it up with our goat's milk lip balm to seal in extra, long-lasting softness.

Here at Fraga Farm, we use real honey from our own beehives to make soaps and lip balms—and we used it to make this lip scrub recipe!

Why Use Lip Scrub?

You may be wondering why you'd want to use a lip scrub in the first place. The answer: lip scrubs exfoliate away dead skin cells, keeping your lips softer longer.

Lip scrubs typically contain a moisturizing agent and a gritty ingredient—like sugar—to buff away dry skin.

Our recipe uses oats as the exfoliant, but you can also add brown sugar if you'd like more scrubbing power.

Recipe: Oatmeal Honey Lip Scrub

Recipe time: 2 min

Ingredients

1 tbsp finely ground oats

1 tsp honey

½ tsp olive oil

½ tsp brown sugar (optional)

Method

Grind the oats into a fine powder—a coffee or spice grinder will do the trick. Think: roughly the size of sugar granules.

Measure out the honey and olive oil into a jar or container. Next, mix the oats in with the honey and olive oil and stir until it begins to turn into a slightly granular paste.

Massage onto the lips for 30 seconds, letting the paste do its magic for about 1 minute. Rinse. Follow up with lip balm.

Storage

You can keep the mix fresh for 1 week in the refrigerator. Separately, dry oat powder can be kept for up to 2 months.
