FAQ

What’s the difference between a balm and a lotion?

It’s all about the water — or lack of it. Lotions are mostly water (about 80%) mixed with oil and require emulsifiers and preservatives. Balms are anhydrous (no water), so they’re more concentrated, shelf-stable, and preservative-free.

Do lotions hydrate better?
They hydrate briefly. Humectants in lotion (like glycerin) pull water to the skin’s surface, but it evaporates quickly unless sealed in with an occlusive. That’s why you reapply often.

How do balms work?
Balms seal in your skin’s own moisture by forming a protective barrier, reducing water loss by up to 60%. Ours are made with freeze-dried goat milk and nutrient-rich oils, no filler ingredients.

Will balms clog pores?
Not if they’re well-formulated. We carefully select ingredients that work with your skin, not against it.

Why use lotion at all?
Lotions feel light and absorb quickly — and they’ve been marketed that way. But marketing can cost more than the actual ingredients. Balms may seem small, but they pack a moisturizing punch.

Bottom line?
A 2 oz balm delivers as much skin-loving goodness as a 12 oz lotion bottle — without the water, waste, or plastic. Plus, balms travel better and last longer. We think they win this round.
